How is the movie?
The first half is filled with comedy and entertains the audience. The fun one-liners are impressive. The scenes involving Raghu Babu in the second half are emotionally engaging. The cameo roles that appear here and there(Darling Movie Review) surprise the audience. Especially Brahmanandam, who appears unexpectedly. Mega Daughter Niharika and versatile actor Suhas, though seen briefly, play significant roles.
The enthusiasm generated in the first half is lost in the second half. The screenplay becomes weak, and the punch dialogues fall flat, causing frustration. Some scenes remind the audience of movies like Aparichitudu and Chandramukhi. The film lacks proper emotions, and Niharika’s character seems unnecessary and illogical. The climax is also not exciting and drags on. Overall, the second half is boring.
Performance
The highlights of the movie are the performances of Priyadarshi and Nabha Natesh. Both of them have had roles with significant scope in their careers. Nabha Natesh has delivered an impressive performance in an emotional role. She has shown versatility in her acting. Priyadarshi, in the role of Raghav, impresses with(Darling Movie Review) his comedy timing. The funny scenes between Priyadarshi and Nabha Natesh are entertaining. Muraleedhar Goud leaves his mark as the father. Ananya Nagalla, Suhas, and Brahmanandam perform well within their role limits.
Direction
Director Aswin Ram chose an interesting storyline but faltered in execution. The first half, showing the hero’s struggles to get married, his bride running away, and Raghav attempting suicide, is depicted humorously and engagingly. The director manages to entertain with a mix of comedy and thrill in the first half. However, the second half lacks logic, which is a significant drawback. If the director had focused more on the second half, the movie would have been better. The repetitive focus on the heroine’s past and revolving the entire story around a single point is tedious. The climax, lacking logic, is not appealing to the audience.
Technical Aspects
Technically, Darling is of high quality. Production values are good. (Darling Movie Review)The visuals provide a fresh feel. The editor’s work is decent. However, Vivek Sagar’s music is not very impressive.
Verdict
Overall, Darling has a fresh concept but fails to entertain the audience consistently. Director Aswin Ram stumbles in maintaining the engagement throughout the film.
